About Greenville, TX

One of the first things that visitors to the city of Greenville, Texas will notice is the city’s quaint downtown district. Free walking tours are available for the curious. There are also tours called “Ghost Walks” which showcase Greenville’s supposedly haunted buildings and sites. During the summer, downtown is also home to the popular Greenville Farmer’s Market. The museum also serves as a memorial to Audie Murphy, the most decorated American soldier in World War II, who was from Greenville, TX. A statue of Murphy is displayed outside the museum, and various memorabilia that belonged to Murphy can be found displayed inside.

Another interesting place to see in Greenville is the Heritage Garden of Hunt County. This garden was an initiative by Texas A&M University to help residents better understand what plants can thrive in Greenville. Created by volunteers from a vacant lot, the garden now serves as a way destination point for the community to enjoy beautiful scenery. Visitors can also learn about gardening techniques such as composting and water conservation.
