About Hurst, TX

The city of Hurst, Texas is a small suburb located between Dallas, TX and Fort Worth, TX. It began as a settlement of farmers and pioneers, most of who came to Texas from the states of Indiana and Tennessee. For the majority of its history, Hurst remained a small bedroom community for its two much larger neighbors to the west and east. It began to experience an accelerated growth after World War Two as the entire Dallas, Fort Worth Metroplex began to grow. Two major factors that directly affected this growth was the construction of a Bell Helicopter plant within the city limits and the emergence of the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport as a nationally recognized transportation hub located just a few miles to the east of the city.

As of the latest census, Hurst, TX is estimated to have a population of a little over 37,000. It is one of the three cities that make up what is locally referred to as H-E-B, an acronym that stands for the cities of Hurst, Euless, and Bedford. These three cities are not just bound by their close proximity but also have a long history of working with one another. A good example of this cooperation can be seen in the HEBISD, a joint cooperative known as the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District that administers the education system for all three cities.
