Nacogdoches, Texas is known as the oldest town in Texas. There has been a Spanish settlement in the area since 1716 and, according to archeological evidence, a Native American presence for the past 10,000 years. Nacogdoches also offers a variety of other activities and festivals. One such festival, the Texas Farm Bureau Freedom Fest, offers the sights, sounds, and tastes of an old-fashioned July 4th celebration. The event includes food, live music, and children’s activities. The Texas Blueberry Festival calls itself the “tastiest festival in Texas,” and features the Little Miss Blueberry Pageant, a 5K run/walk, and the much anticipated blueberry pie contest.
