Woodway, Texas is small a bedroom community of nearly 9,000 located in McLennan County, Texas, about 5 miles south of Waco, Texas. The city was incorporated in 1955 when it had a population of little more than 250 residents. For example, the city’s largest park, Woodway Park has an excellent 18-hole Frisbee golf course that runs alongside the waters of Lake Waco. Woodway is also home of The Carleen Bright Arboretum, a central location for many of the activities and events happening in Woodway. Visitors to the Arboretum can take in the beautiful gardens that fill its six acres. In addition to hosting concerts and garden fairs, the Arboretum is well known for the art exhibitions featuring works from different artists around central Texas that it hosts every six weeks. The Arboretum also showcases the annual Gardeners Gathering, where the best gardeners from the area come together to share the tricks and tips of the trade, purchase items from local vendors, and buy and sell handmade jewelry and crafts.
