The area around what is now the city of Clovis, New Mexico has been inhabited by humans since prehistoric times. Clovis is also a city of many parks. The 157-acre Hillcrest Park features sports fields, a dog park, picnic tables, and indoor swimming pool and the state’s second largest zoo. Ned Houk Park boasts a disc golf course and trails for ATV and horseback riding. Goodwin Lake Walking Trail is a paved path of a little more than a mile set in natural grasslands with a view of a lake.
